I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether the genealogy firm Yorkshire Family History at Grasmead House 1 Scarcroft Hill York is still in business. I commissioned some research back in September last year and have heard nothing more since paying the fee. As I am in Australia, I have limited ways of getting information, and email and phone have proved futile.
Can anybody help with any information? Thanks, Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, I have just been looking at their web site and I see that they are on twitter. Have you tried going that way? Regards Barry

Thank you for your reply, Barry. The Twitter site seems to just direct me back the to their website. Short of calling the Yorkshire Police and accusing them of fraud, or posting defamatory comments about the lack of service, I am unclear what to do next. I thought there might be knowledge in regard to this service's reliability or solvency status to be found in fellow genealogists in Yorkshire. Hence my post. Any other ideas would be welcome. Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, I have contacted Trading Standards and is it is not a limited company they cant help. However they suggest you try sending a recorded delivery letter to them this would ascertain wether they received the letter. I did look on Google Maps and the building does appear to be private flats. Regards Barry

Thanks, Barry. I will try doing this. In the meantime, buyer beware for anyone else thinking of using this service!
